El Mayor

Challenge
El Mayor is a handcrafted tequila grown in the highlands of Jalisco, distilled by the González family across four generations of perfected process. The accolades were real, the reputation earned. The branding and marketing had simply aged in the wrong direction.
In a tequila category moving fast toward ultra-premiumization, El Mayor needed to command a higher price point and make room for new high-end expressions, without letting go of the family heritage that made the juice worth the price in the first place.

Solution
We started with an ownable signature style: a cleaner, brighter look inspired by the adobe architecture of Jalisco, paired with refined typography, luxe textures and hand-drawn illustrations that mirrored the handmade nature of the tequila itself.
The website got a full redesign: interactive recipe carousel, streamlined expression navigation, a digital experience as considered as the product it was selling. For content, we traveled to Mexico for a multi-day documentary shoot following the full craft process, from the Jicama Jima harvest through the finished pour, centering Master Distillers Rodolfo and Grace as the faces of the González legacy.
Campaign work ran wide, as it does over the course of a multi-year relationship. The national “Make An Impression” TV spot let the atmosphere do the talking across all four expressions, while later campaigns connected deeply to the brand’s rich heritage and careful process. When a new bottle design needed an introduction, we built the “Elements” concept, rich flavor-profile imagery using peppercorns, floral illustrations, caramel animations and gilded fruit, so the launch felt fresh instead of repetitive.
The Cristalino expression got its own rollout: high-impact creative inspired by packaging ink, clarity and the flavor differentiators that made it worth paying attention to.
On social, varied content kept the attention of followers. “Delayed Gratification” documented a craftsman hand-building a side table from used El Mayor aging barrels – a mystery giveaway that built a new Instagram audience one curious viewer at a time. “Roof-Top Shelf Tequila”
captured handcrafted cocktails and real connection on a city rooftop at golden hour, subtly suggesting El Mayor as a trade up for tequila lovers.
